Zenith of the Buddhism heritage Shwedagon Pagoda

Buddhism in Myanmar is Theravada Buddhism, a more primordial sect that remains from India.

Nearly 90% of the people in Myanmar are devout Buddhists, and there are numerous pagodas in the country.

This majestic golden pagoda, the culmination, and the pinnacle of Buddhism in Yangon were built with donations from citizens.

One of the most famous of them is the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon.

It was built in 585 B.C., but it did reach its present size at around the 15th century.

The stone at the Beauvosie Shrine near the southwest corner of the site is said to grant wishes if lifted, and there are many other mysterious legends and power spots, including a statue that is said to grant children if prayed for and a bell that was sunk in the river after being carried away by the British army.

You are not allowed to wear revealing clothing when visiting the temple. Stockings are also prohibited.

Also, monk-related manners, such as not touching monks of the opposite sex, are important.
