Chauck That Gyee Pagoda, 66m sleeping Buddha
The Chau htat gyee Pagoda is home to the largest reclining Buddha in Yangon.
It is 66 meters long and 17 meters high.
The sole of the Reclining Buddha has 108 Buddhist cosmology paintings on its feet.
There are also trees in the temple with money hanging from them like strips of paper.
The Chautadj-Pagoda was sponsored by a wealthy Burmese Buddhist, Sir Po Thar, in 1899.
It was completed in 1907 by another construction company, but the original Buddha's face had an aggressive expression.
In the 1950s, the old Buddha statue was demolished and the temple administration began replacing it under the supervision of U Town. The large glass eyes were custom made at the Naga Glass Factory. The Buddha statue was dedicated in 1973.
