It is interesting to compare the many Buddha images from the Pyu and Bagan periods. There are also many cultural items such as lacquer and wood carving works of art, puppet shows, musical instruments, and traditional costumes.

How Buddhism took root in Myanmar, how it was preserved and changed, makes it an essential place to learn about what kind of country Yangon is and its identity!

You can rent a free audio guide that is available in numerous languages, including Japanese and English, or you can ask the resident volunteer guides to explain the sights and sounds. It's a great place to discover something new, no matter how many times you visit.
