Multiethnic nation; Kachin, Kayar, Kayin, Chin, Rakahin, Shan, Bamar, etc
Myanmar is a multi-ethnic country with more than 130 ethnic minorities, including Kachin, Karen, Kayah, Mon, Chin, Shan, Rakhine, and Burmese.
Many of the ethnic groups have different languages, and it is not uncommon for them to be derived from completely different civilizations.
Some of my schoolmates are Myanmarese, but they speak a completely different language than the people in the countryside.
The Burmese, who make up 70% of the population, and the Hmong and Shan, who have established kingdoms, have a growing presence in the country.
Since Myanmar is long, the climate and culture are completely different between the northernmost and southernmost parts of the country.
It is hot all year round in Yangon, but there is a great difference in temperature between mountainous areas and the way of life.
This is also reflected in the ethnic costumes, and the patterns of longyi are different depending on the ethnic groups. But nowadays, it is enjoyed as a fashion statement regardless of ethnicity.
Some of the traditional costumes can be seen in the National Museum.
